Google has just finished its launch event with a surprise launch of Google Clips, an AI-powered camera artificial intelligence to capture intimate moments that you aren’t able to get on your own. It’s a hands-free camera that helps you automatically capture spontaneous smiles, first steps, or first tricks.
Google says it’ll pair with Android 7.0 or higher, and will take animated Motion photos as well as stills and video. To train the camera, you just need to take a picture of the subject and point it at your favorite faces. Google Clips recognizes the faces you’re with most. The more you’re with them, the more Google Clips will capture them. Google Clips automatically suggests the best moments
The camera has a 12-megapixel sensor with an f2.4 lens which autofocuses and shoots video at15 fps. It has 16 GB memory and a 130-degree field of view. There is no microphone, no display, no speaker. File transfer to your phone is via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy. At 54 x 54 x 36mm, and 55 grams, it is quite small.
According to Google, “Capture fun, playful shots of family and pets with Google Clips! Clip it up high, set it down low or try anywhere in between for fun vantage points. Don’t forget to get yourself in the shot too!”
Google Clips is coming soon and will be available for $249 (around INR 16200). There’s no India release date yet. You can join the waitlist for the product here.
