Canon recently announced the development of the ‘Free-Viewpoint Video System,’ a new visual solution that incorporates the optical and sensor technologies cultivated by the company over many years.
When deployed at a sports stadium or arena, the technology would allow a “virtual camera” to move around and view the action from pretty much any vantage point in the 3D space. You could go to ground level to watch the action as if you were one of the players, or you could float up above them to check out the birds-eye view.
At a sports event, like a football match, the solution Canon allows you to lower the camera, bringing it to ground level, raise it to frame portions more spacious from the top and rotate it 360°.
Canon strives to promote sports and culture by using its cutting-edge products and technologies to develop innovative ways to enjoy the visual content.
Canon will showcase the Free-Viewpoint Video System at the Canon booth during Inter BEE 2017, held from November 15 to 17 at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.
