Phase One recently announced the Phase One IQ3 100MP Trichromatic Digital Back, based on a new CMOS sensor designed to capture color as perceived by the human eye.
Phase One states that the result is “astonishing color definition – with which champions of photography are able to create and express their artistic visions more accurately than ever before.”

The Trichromatic back features all the same specifications as the current IQ3 100MP with a couple exceptions. First, the Trichromatic has a base ISO of just 35, a new low for medium format CMOS sensors. Second, it incorporates new Bayer filter color technology aided by its working relationship with Sony.

Here are some sample photos captured using the IQ3 100MP Trichromatic:

The Digital Back itself will be available for $44,990 and that can be paired with current XF camera bodies. If you want to buy into the system and are not already invested at all you can pick up the new IQ3 100MP Trichromatic Digital Back, an XF Camera Body, and a free Schnider Kreuznach Blue Ring Prime Lens (your choice out of that entire series).
